Sophomore Recorded 18 RBIs in 6-0 Week

May 2, 2017LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. – Siena Softball’s Madysen Cossack was tabbed the MAAC Player of Week as announced by the league office on Tuesday. It is the second weekly award of the season for Cossack and third award of her career. Cossack was also named the MAAC Player of the Week by College Sports Madness.

The California native hit .688 this week for the Saints, going 11-16 at the plate. The first baseman recorded an incredible 18 RBIs, four home runs, and three doubles in six games for Siena in the past week. She also scored seven runs and drew three walks. Cossack helped lead the Saints to a perfect 6-0 week, including MAAC sweeps over Rider and Monmouth. Cossack hit three home runs in the series with the Hawks including a grand slam in game two.

The sophomore has started in all 45 games for the Saints this season and currently leads the team with a .394 average, 41 RBIs, 50 hits, 9 home runs and 13 doubles. She is the first two-time MAAC Softball Player of the Week this season.

The Saints are currently in second place (13-5) in the MAAC Softball standings, with just two games to play. With the sweep of Monmouth, the team clinched its berth into the MAAC Tournament beginning May 10.

Siena will host Army West Point on Thursday, May 4 for a doubleheader starting at 3 p.m. The Saints will travel for their final MAAC doubleheader on Saturday, May 6 against Niagara. First pitch of game one is set for 1 p.m.
